Isle Education Trust (IET) is a multi-academy trust (MAT).

Governance of Isle Education Trust falls within the responsibility of Members who sit on the Supervisory Board and Directors who form the Board of Directors

At a local level, each academy has an Academy Oversight Committee (AOC) or a managment Oversight Committee ( MOC ) made up of governors.

The Scheme of Delegation sets out the powers that have been delegated to each body

Members

The primary function of the Members is to oversee the proper and effective operation of the Board of Directors.

The Members meet at least twice a year and by invitation of the Directors may attend one of the Board of Directors meetings annually in a non-voting capacity.

Directors

Directors are responsible for:

• Setting the vision and values, ethos, and strategic direction of the MAT
• The effective management of the Academies
• Financial, educational and academic performance and monitoring of all settings within IET
• Developing and implementing a risk management strategy and making major decisions about IET including its funding applications, capital initiatives and key contracts
• Ensuring the reputation of the MAT is continually strengthened and is not compromised
• Identifying terms of reference for the Board’s committees and the Academy Oversight Committees (Academy level governance) and ensuring these are reviewed

Academy  Oversight  Committees

Each academy has a team of governors who form an Academy Oversight Committee (AOC).  Currently, South Axholme Academy and Epworth Primary Academy have a combined AOC.

Although not in any way legally responsible, and not itself accountable for statutory functions, the AOC has an important role to play in assisting the academy to operate effectively in line with the wishes of Board of Trustees. For more information please see the individual Academy websites.
